Why Did We Launch Our Business with CAB Cable Management System Products?

Helping over 500 people with disabilities
The Cambria County Association magazine

When #AustralianPowerEquipment was founded in 2020, we started with a singular focus: the cable management hooks from CAB (Cambria County Association for the Blind and Handicapped). Partnering with CAB wasn't just a business decision; it was a commitment to supporting a mission we deeply believe in. We were thrilled to be their exclusive agent in Australia, championing their high-quality cable management systems and their inspiring cause.

A Legacy of Empowerment and Innovation

The CAB brand is rooted in a powerful story of resilience and innovation. In 1967, Richard C. Bosserman, a visionary leader who lost his vision in a hunting accident as a teenager, became the president of the Cambria County Association for the Blind and Handicapped. Through his leadership, the association underwent significant expansion, broadening its range of services and creating countless employment opportunities for individuals with blindness, vision loss, or other disabilities.

Mr. Bosserman's personal experience taught him the value of meaningful work and the importance of self-confidence, which he championed throughout his career. He transformed the association from a traditional charitable organization to one that was financially self-sufficient, driven by the production and sale of a wide range of CAB products. Starting with food service kits and sewn items, CAB eventually expanded into manufacturing high-visibility safety gear and more.

Innovating for Inclusion: The Birth of CAB Hooks

In the mid-1970s, CAB ventured into a new realm: producing hooks and hangers designed for suspending electrical cables and air hoses in underground coal mines. This was a game-changing move, both for the industry and for the association. Mr. Bosserman and his team developed durable hooks and hangers that could be efficiently produced by individuals with disabilities, proving that inclusion and quality could go hand in hand.

Today, CAB's hooks and hangers are a global standard, available in various sizes and configurations. Their versatility extends beyond underground mines and tunnels to include applications in the electrical industry, utilities, municipal traffic cabling, pipeline and shipbuilding industries, and even in the construction of solar power plants.

A Mission-Aligned Partnership

At Australian Power Equipment, we are proud to have launched our business with CAB products. From the beginning, our goal has been to align with brands that not only deliver exceptional quality but also embody values that resonate with our own. CAB is a perfect example of this, combining innovative solutions with a commitment to social responsibility.

As our company has grown, expanding our portfolio to include a diverse range of global brands, we have remained true to the principles that guided us from the start. We are dedicated to sustainability, community investment, and fostering a business culture that supports meaningful causes.

Looking to the Future

Our journey with CAB products is just the beginning. We look forward to continuing to represent CAB in Australia, bringing their exceptional cable management systems to more customers and supporting their mission to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities. As we grow, we remain committed to choosing partnerships that prioritize impact over profit and align with our vision for a more inclusive and sustainable world.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, we can continue to make a difference, one cable hook at a time.
